Davie was Davie Glen a well known character who frequented Glen Doll Youth Hostel in the 1950's and 1960's. He lived in Tealing (in an old railway carriage?) just North of Dundee. He was larger than life with a long flowing unkempt beard and a predilection for what Billy Connolly would call "he drum ho drum" mouth music which he would play first thing in the morning. It was an acquired taste but he certainly added to the atmosphere in the hostel.
