I am also trying desperately to find the exact same information you are trying to find. Sorry I'm not any more help. My grandfather was Wendell Rudolph Flowers, son of William Clifton Flowers. William Clifton's grandfather was John F. Flowers, and that's where the trail runs cold. Please send me an e-mail whether you've found additional information or not. I'm interested to know how you are connected to my great great great grandfather, and to me. 
I'm thinking of calling the county clerk in Rusk County, TX vital records and seeing if I can somehow obtain John L. Flowers birth/death certificate(s). Hope to hear from you soon!
