The illustrious Jail Sarge has already done a good job of addressing your concerns but I feel the need to chime in, as well.
I will be the first to admit that over the course of my career I have spent some time griping and firing off at the mouth without knowing what I am talking about. I have found, though, that I get some fairly reasonable answers when I approach things with a little less acid in my voice. It seems to me that if I ask questions with the actual intent of LEARNING from someone instead of just intending to foment anger among my friends and co-workers, I find things aren't as nasty as they originally seemed.
I originally typed a pretty long response to your post. After reading it, I hit the "backspace" button a lot. An e-mail is coming in the near future to fill you in on what's been going on. I know it has been a while since I sent one; maybe that's why you're all wound up. In the meantime, my extension is 1733 and my personal cell phone number is in the Department rolodex on ETI (sorry general public, I won't be posting it here). If you have concerns, let your fingers do the walking so that you can address them to the right person. Until then, know that the Chief is working on the very policy you're so concerned about, and so are the type of people who roll up their sleeves instead of just spouting off at the mouth. That would be your Executive Board. If you feel like not enough is getting done on your behalf, try pitching in.
