It is VERY funny how the department decides what part of the policy it wants to go by. When it comes to hiring, the department recently follows it. In doing so, we fail to hire quality applicants. However, the rest of the policy is left for those to decide what part of the policy they want to enforce. The "grandfather" dates only goes back to 2003, but several people at the department were married after the date. Clearly they can't work in the same unit, per policy, with their spouse. Either fix the violations or fight the policy. You can't have both. My guess, the department should fix the policy rather than face a law suit. Either way, something has to happen. Do we need a committee to address this issue? Or will the LSPOA finally step up and address this issue for the good.
