As a hardcore Goku fan, I feel it my duty to defend his honor. Looking past his power and the battles he's won, the reason I like Goku is because, unlike a certain saiyan prince, he always treats everyone around him like an equal. He eventually surpasses all his friends in strength but never rubs it in their faces. Also, he doesn't care about superficial things like looks. Remember when Roshi was showing him pictures of two very different women and asking which one he found more attractive? Goku replied that to him they both looked the same.
Don't get me wrong, I like Vegeta. He's the perfect example of an anti-hero. It's just that I'm the kind of person who roots for the nice guy. And you'll be hard pressed to find a guy nicer than Goku.
