----------"Mrs. Lee's Ming Tea" Bottling Plant, 8:55PM----------
Robin descends upon the roof of the "Mrs. Lee's Ming Tea" Bottling facility and deftly removes a small lock pick kit from a pouch in his utility belt. In a matter of seconds the nimble fingers of the young hero drop all the tumblers into place, removing the lock and gaining entrance to the building. He slips stealthily down the metal staircase and immediately spots the shadowed form of Jervis Tetch sitting around a small wooden table with six of his brainwashed minions. He sneers gleefully at his "guests" while reciting the Mad Hatter scene from Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland."
"A tea factory," Tim whispers to himself while shaking his head, "why not overtake a haberdashery?" Robin moves with extreme caution, forcing himself to stay silent and unseen, knowing the greatest danger when fighting Tetch is the well-being of his innocent dupes. He glides atop the catwalk that overhangs the floor of the factory, moving from the southern end to the northern, directly behind the unsuspecting Mad Hatter. Tim takes a deep breath before bounding over the railing of the catwalk and using his cape to glide the thirty foot drop like a leaf on the wind.
As Drake's feet hit the floor Tetch leaps from his seat in fear and kicks his chair out behind him. Tim easily dodges the initial attack, but in that instant Jervis hops atop the table, raising his short frame to Robin's eye line.
"I should have expected you Boy Wonder, stay back or my minions will tear you asunder!" The Mad Hatter exclaims, rhyming as he always does when frustrated. While he speaks his six party guests rise to their feet and draw their hand guns.
"A tea factory Tetch?" Robin questions while hiding his body within his kevlar-lined cape, hopefully protecting himself should the dupes begin firing. "Could you be any more predictable?"
"Off my predictability I shall ween, cause I have some tricks you haven't seen!" Tetch retorts while laughing and dancing merrily. Instantly the dupes point their weapons at their own heads. "On your knees and step aside, or all of them with suicide!"
Tim lowers his head and slumps his shoulders, all the while delving his fingers into a utility belt pouch and drawing a small detonator for an electro magnetic pulse built into the "R" jewel atop the buckle of his belt. Robin hastily weighs his options, balancing the lives of these six people, with the potential chaos that could ensue when nearly a half mile around him loses power and falls to darkness. Seeing no other way out, Tim places his thumb over the trigger and raises his eyes to Tetch's. "You're not the only one with an ace up your sleeve," Robin says as a smirk grows across his face. He detonates the electro magnetic pulse, disabling all the electronic within a half mile, including Tetch's mind control chips.
Immediately Robin dives forward and snags the Mad Hatter by the lapels of his suit coat, lifting the tiny sociopath off the ground. "Who broke you out!" Tim grunts while shaking Jervis vehemently.
"They freed me from that horrid Hell, and for that service I'll never tell!" Tetch responds as his eyes narrow dangerously.
Robin releases Jervis with his right hand, quickly raising his right elbow and driving it into the nose of the insane inmate. Tetch's nose explodes in a volcano of blood, the pain forcing him to succumb to blackness.
----------Home of Detective Adam Steiner, 10:07PM----------
"I know, I know, I'll make it up to you," Detective Steiner pleads into his cell phone, begging his wife to forgive his lack of punctuality. "It's this McKay case, Commissioner Hard-Ass wants it solved immediately, no matter how many hours we have to put in." He listens intently as his wife responds, rolling his eyes at what she has to say. "I'm pulling in the driveway right now," he states as he cuts the ignition of his car, "I picked up a bottle of wine, so you just wait for me upstairs," he gushes seductively. "I may be late, but we can still make our first anniversary a night to remember."
Adam flips his phone closed and tucks it in his pocket while walking around his car to the front door of his house. As he approaches the door he notices a shadowed figure sitting on the bench on his porch.
"What are you doing here!" He spits with venom in his voice. "I told you never to come to my..."
Before he can finish his sentence a syringe flashes from the figures pocket and punctures the Detective directly in the jugular. As the plunger slides down and the serum is injected Steiner tumbles backward and flops atop the driveway. He sees the bottle of wine crash down beside his head, shattering into hundreds of pieces before his eyes go permanently black.
