There was a time when I was not what I am. There was a time when I was just a man who wanted to do the best for him family any way he could. I had a wife and a daughter. I still do but now I am more than just them. I am responsible for more than I could have ever thought possible. I am more powerful than most men ever dream of becoming. There are those that look to me for protection and those that seek protection from me. Pray you do find yourself in the latter category… …for I am The Hood!
/\Bruce’s Apartment/\ “What the!?!” Bruce snapped up from his bed where he had been laying and saw a familiar form squeezing himself through the window he had just shattered. “You! What are you doing here?” “Today isn’t you’re lucky day little guy.” Dirk Garthwaite stood in front of the window his body silhouetted by the street light that shown threw the shattered glass. Bruce stood up quickly and Wrecker pushed him down back onto the cheap box springs. With a smirk he slid his Asgardian enchanted crowbar behind his right shoulder. “Heh. I don’t know what you did to get a hitter like me assigned to you but I don’t think I’ll be needing a tool like this for this job.” Bruce’s mind raced as he stared at the intruder in his apartment. He felt his blood was nearly at its boiling point even as he tried to maintain some kind of composure. His jaw clenched shut and he thought his teeth might shatter from the pressure that was building up as he tried to resist the transformation. “No.” Was what he was trying to say but it came out as a strained and lengthy groan. “Come on! I haven’t even started roughing you up yet! And you’re already begging?” Wrecker shook his head as he slapped Bruce with the back of his hand. “I’m telling you this is a good thing I didn’t cut the rest of my crew in on this job ‘cause you aren’t worth it.” “Nooooo!” Bruce shouted and tried to run past thinking if he managed to escape he might just manage to keep the monster inside him. Right now it was the only choice he had. The only option he could think of to keep from breaking his streak of three months, two weeks and four days going. In fact right now that was a mantra he was shouting inside his head trying to remember how good all those days had been. Wrecker slapped him aside and even with restraining himself still had enough force behind it to push Bruce through the door and out into the hallway. Bruce pushed himself off the floor and noticed the broken door at his feet was unsteady. A quick glance showed him that he and the door had landed on the old guy down the hall that had always been so nice to him, unlike so many of the others in his newly adopted home. Dirk shook his head as he began to trash the apartment inside. He figured the little guy wasn’t about to be getting up from his trip through the door anytime soon anyway. “Tell you what. You give me what these guys are after, cut me in on whatever it is you’re hiding and maybe, just maybe I’ll take it easy on you.” “You want what I’m hiding?” Bruce lowered his gaze as he knelt on the broken door in the hallway. His eyes glowed green as his back and shoulders bulged, tearing through his shirt. “Well here it is…” Wrecker heard the deep growl and stopped in his tracks, turning slowly toward the door. /\Manhattan, Undisclosed Location/\ “Yo man where Dirk at?” Henry Camp strolled in through the doors where the rest of the Wrecking Crew sat. “He’s out.” Eliot Franklin didn’t even bother looking up at Bulldozer. “I can see that.” Henry slumped down into a chair and stared at Thunderball. “You know Doc, just you’re the only educated man here don’t mean the rest of us are stupid.” “I don’t think everyone here is stupid…” Eliot noticed his sarcasm did not fall on receptive ears. “Thanks.” Henry picked up a magazine and started flipping through it. “He’s trying to say that just thinks you are dummy.” Piledriver explained but when he saw Henry’s face he quickly changed the subject. “Listen he don’t think we know but he took a side gig.” “Whoa.” Henry’s eyes widened. “Hood know about it?” “Nah and there aint no reason he should know so keep it on the DL alright.” From the corner of the room Parker Robbins nearly gasped aloud. Not from surprise but from lack of air. He had been invisible for almost as long as he could stand and his anger over the fact that Wrecker had taken the side job just infuriated him more. He didn’t even try to hide the fact when he opened the door and slid out. “Yo what was that?” Bulldozer looked at the door that had just opened and closed on its own. “Damn…you think this place is haunted?” No one paid him any attention after he asked his question and he shrugged his shoulders and went back to the magazine in his hands. /\Bruce’s Apartment/\ “Guess I’m gonna need this after all.” Wrecker swung his crowbar at Hulk who grabbed it with a massive hand stopping it in mid swing. With merely a flick of his wrist Wrecker was thrown through the wall and into the hallway. He brought one leg beneath him and he saw the partially covered body beneath the door. He didn’t even have time to think about what it meant as Hulk barreled through the wall and was on top of him. The two tore through wall after wall and Wrecker soon found himself in free fall. They exchanged blows all the way until the pavement stopped their fall. Wrecker brought his crowbar up to block the oncoming blows from Hulk but it still felt like getting a semi dropped on him over and over. Hulk stopped as something burnt through his flesh of his back and he turned forgetting Wrecker who lay beneath him. A growl escaped his lips as he saw someone new was trying to get his attention.
Wrecker crawled out of the hole in the pavement. He didn’t know which he was more afraid of when he saw The Hood firing his pistols into the Hulk as the green behemoth roared at the newcomer. Hood realized his bullets were having little effect even though they were touched with demon fire as he circled his way around the Hulk. He paused long enough to holster his weapons and glance down at Wrecker. “I’ll deal with your transgressions against the syndicate after I deal with him.”
Wrecker swallowed as he saw The Hood transform before his eyes. For once he was actually rooting for the Hulk because he did not want to be on the receiving end of The Hood’s wrath. /\TBC/\
