There was a time when I was not what I am. There was a time when I was just a man who wanted to do the best for him family any way he could. I had a wife and a daughter. I still do but now I am more than just them. I am responsible for more than I could have ever thought possible. I am more powerful than most men ever dream of becoming. There are those that look to me for protection and those that seek protection from me. Pray you do find yourself in the latter category… …for I am The Hood!
/\Brooklyn/\ Parker stares at his wife who has folded her arms across her chest. “What is you want from me Sara?” “All I want is the truth Parker.” Sara looks into the other room conscious of the fact their daughter is in the other room. “I don’t think that’s too much to ask.” “It may not be too much to ask Sara but it is a lot to ask.” Parker made his way to the doorway where he stared down at his young daughter who was biting on a teething ring he had bought for her some time ago. “I’m doing anything I can for this family to work. You wouldn’t like some of the things I do.” Sara threw her arms above her head. “So that’s it? That’s what you’re going to bring to the table?” “No. I bring the food to the table. I keep the roof over our heads! I keep this family together!” Parker turned his voice raising with each new thing that came from his mouth. “I do everything for this family!” “You think risking you’re life doing what ever it is you’re doing won’t hurt us if something goes wrong? You think you are so high and mighty? Well you Parker Robbins are not that special!” Sara regretted the words even before she saw the look on her husband’s face. “Fine. If that’s how you want to be Sara, I get it. I’m out.” Parker turned and knelt beside his daughter laying a kiss upon her cheek as she reached up toward him, grabbing at the edge of his jacket. “I love you sweetheart.” Parker stepped to the back door of the small but well kept brownstone and opened it stepping down into the grass of his back yard. He paused when he heard Sara in the doorway. “Parker I’m sorry I didn’t mean to say that.” “Yes you did, Sara.” He looked at his wife and smiled. “I’ll be home in a bit after I check in on the construction site. We’ll talk things over when I get back. Don’t wait up for me.” Sara’s eyes glazed with tears as she heard the lies about the construction job once more and her husband closed the backyard fence behind him. /\Manhattan, Undisclosed Location/\ “It’s about time you showed up, Hood.” Parker Robbins turned toward his second in command, Madam Masque. Her tone told him that she was not serious but it was little more than a playful riding. “I was busy.” Madam Masque stepped up to stand before him, their bodies almost touching as she invaded his personal space. Her golden mask, cradled by her raven colored hair nearly hid her crystal blue eyes. Her hand slid to the grip on her nickel plated .475 Wildey Magnum. “So now you’re too busy for me?” “I’m never too busy for you.” Parker shrugged his hood from his head as he removed her mask, revealing her disfigured face. Their lips met for several seconds as each felt a heat building up inside them. Parker pulled away before anything went further. “I need to speak to Linus. There’s something I need him to do for me.” Whitley replaced her mask covering the smile that had just been upon her face with the golden emotionless plating. She nodded, turned then disappeared through the far doorway. Minutes later she reappeared with the heavier set man at her side. “I need you to gather everything you can about everyone here.” Hood stood before a large window that overlooked a large common area below. The regulars were of course here just like he expected. “Everyone who has even showed their face here. I trust I have the right man for the job?” “They don’t call me Microchip because of my &^%$ is small.” Linus Lieberman started to smile until he saw Hood’s eyes take a red hew. “Of course I can get the information. I’ll put a rush order on it.” “Good. I need to know everything I can before I show my cards.” Hood dismissed Microchip with a nod leaving him alone with Madam Masque once again. “Is this about Sam?” Whitley stood beside and behind Parker making sure not to invade his personal space incase any of the villains below were using any tricks to see through the treated glass. “Do you think you know who killed him?” Parker said nothing. He only stared down at the villains below. Madam Masque took his silence as another of his hints that the discussion would not be had now and slowly stepped away leaving him alone once more. Parker looked into the glass before him soon his vision blurred and before him in the reflection appeared a familiar face that spoke to him.
“You’re plans are as dark as your soul.” “My soul is only darkened by you’re presence Dorammu.” Hood spoke placing what he thought was just enough dissent into his tone. “Watch your tongue boy lest I take that which I have given you leaving you the whelp I found you as in search of a teet to suckle.” Dorammu’s head flared with flames as he spoke. “Do you want to be as you were?” “More than you know.” Hood answered honestly. “You’re thoughts are not blocked to me.” Dorammu laughed. “I know your true desires even when you put up a show of defiance. Play your little game that you started and I will make you everything you have ever wanted when the time has come.” “And Strange? When will I finish him for you?” Hood asked knowing that Dorammu had his own plans for him. “I have an eternity to deal with Strange.” Dorammu spoke and upon seeing the look on Parker’s face that he tried to hide beneath the hood he laughed once more. “Yes I know you do not have an eternity that is why you should know your place. You are not the first vessel I have chosen, nor shall you be my last!” “Hood?” Parker shook the cobwebs from his head that always accompanied any contact with Dorammu. He turned to see Microchip behind him. “What is it?” “I have the information you requested.” Microchip handed him a disk and several hard copies in several folders. Parker stared at the information in his hands. “Already?” Microchip glanced at his watch and stammered just a bit. “And here I was a little worried that it took me three hours to get it all together.” Damn. Three hours this time. Time loss had become more common too but he had never experience that long of a loss before. Hood glanced behind Microchip to Madam Masque. “Call for a gathering within the hour. I want everyone here. Let them know if they do not show I will come for them personally and they will not like how I deal with their lack of devotion.” Madam Masque nodded then waited for Microchip to leave and she backed out of the door closing it behind her. /\Split/\
