Maxine Winslow eventually releases Ethan from her massive hug, and gives him a look as if something had just occurred to her.
"That means,... this Zedar person, entity, whatever is real.... and he's really talking to you directly."
Suddenly taken by the fact that Ethan has someone seemingly living in his head, she asks for more information on this cosmic being, in specific, what it wants with Supreme. Ethan fills her in on how an enemy from possible galaxies away would come to pose a threat that only he himself could advert. For some reason unknown to himself, Ethan felt one hundred percent safe in confiding in Maxine, and as expected, she didn't digest this latest reveal with the horror and over done distress that one would expect from news like this. Maybe it was because of all her years as a reporter? maybe it was because in a way she knew Ethan better than anyone else, and if you associate with his type long enough, you grow to expect Earth threatening events on a pretty regular basis.
Moving on, as if Ethan had commented on the nice weather, Maxine asks about his 'press release'.
"You've never been good with masses of reporters, what were you thinking?"
"Well, the people deserve an explanation of who I am, what I plan to do with my strengths and just generally need their questions put to rest."
Stepping up to her front door, Maxine motions Ethan over. "Well, I had probably better help you with some sort of short speech or something. A little rehearsing for the line of questioning that will follow won't hurt either."
Ethan reluctantly inches toward the door with a sigh, as if being forced to do chores.

Far removed from our own reality, yet eerily familiar to our Earth at the same time. This is home of Ethan Crane, not the one you and I know, but one far more sinister, one that has a child undergoing the same chemicals and radiation that Supreme did so many years ago.
The tests however have finished, and the two foot thick steel doors slide open with a woosh revealing an immobile Adam Richenbacher. A couple of Ethan's maintenance men rush forward to enter the first in a series of sliding doors that lead into the testing chamber that they had just observed remotely. They march through one set of sliding doors, and then another carrying a fold-out cloth gurney. They lay the wooden poles of the gurney on the ground with the cloth flattened out by the floor. The child's feet and arms are taken into the hands of radiation suit clad clean up men, who strain to pick the boy up and drop him to the gurney.
"This kid weighs a ton!" One of the clean up crew complains through his headset.
"It's side effect of the testing." Ethan ensures them.
They struggle to lift the kid off the ground, and after a couple moments of effort, get to moving towards the rear of the room, through another sliding door. They're only halfway through the exit when the cloth rips and the deceased youth falls freely to the floor. The men take two more steps before turning in unison towards their lost cargo. They drop the now useless poles to the ground and work on picking the child back up to continue towards his ultimate disposal. Before they fully kneel to the ground to retrieve the child, their throats are simultaneously in the grip of someones hands. They have time enough to realize that it's Adam's hands around their throats before their heads come crashing together with such force that both of their necks are snapped.
Quickly Ethan grabs the mic at his control board and instantly works to sooth the now erratic child. "It's ok, son." his voice comes over hidden speakers.
"Father?" The voice still holds a child like quality and innocence that Ethan was determined to rob him of.
"Yes son, just turn around and walk towards the door, I'll be waiting for you." Ethan mashes a few buttons on the panel that sprawls out before him, and several doors open in unison, revealing a hallway of sorts.
"Ready a shuttle. We're going up to introduce my son to Supremium." He then walks through doorway after doorway to meet Adam.
"Hello, son. You feel like going on a field trip?"
