Missouri has had it's share of stalkers, thugs that stalk those they perceive to be weaker, the occasional obsessed teen that has the disturbing tendency to follow his high school crush home from school, and of course the sexual predators. But the states' newest stalker is not a stalker of the innocent, but of the guilty. The past week has seen an abrupt end come to nearly a dozen crimes, at the hands of Supreme. 11:40 of this morning presents yet another of such crimes for Supreme, this time in the form of a bank robbery.
The call goes out over the air waves, reporting a silent alarm being triggered, and before the sentence is complete, Supreme is already on the scene. From the air, he has the perfect vantage point for spotting the crooks planned escape root to their more than a little obvious get-away car, a jet black 1972 Ford Econoline with blacked out windows. Ethan picks out a nice little hiding spot, out of view from the Banks exit, and the drivers line of vision, waits until the frantic scuffling of hurried feet over disintegrating pavement drew close enough, then struck an arm out to his side. The would-be-robbers are too busy watching for pursuers and two of the six man team run straight into the massive forearm and are thrown to the ground as their feet are taken out from under them. The remaining four screech to a halt as Supreme rounds the corner to face them.
"Who the f&*k is that!?"
"Dunno but he's soon to be a dead f&*k!!!"
The crook holds an unsteady arm out in front of his face an proceeds to empty his entire clip into the face and chest of Supreme, with his fellow criminals quickly following suit with every single slug ricocheting into the alleyway, back street, and buildings around them.
"Tsk, Tsk.." Supreme shakes his head in a mocking form of admonishment. "Now you have nothing to use to hold off the police." And as if on cue, a half dozen S.L.P.D. Squad cars screech into place blocking off their entry to the side alley.
"We'll just have to go through this clown, no sweat!"
"You f&*king kidding me? Our f&*king bullets bounced right off him!!!"
"The dudes wearing body armor, so what! Lets rush this fool!"
The foursome took only a couple strides before Supreme seemingly 'shifts' out of sight in a blur of crimson and ivory. Before they know it, a dozen stinging blows are landed from out of know where, as if they had stepped on an invisible nest of hornets. The punches that Ethan lands are meant only to wear the thugs down, and does just that in minutes.
The police descend along the alleyway, warily until they spot Ethan, and the strung out bodies of the six criminals and their loot scattered all along the ground. One by one they each lower their guns, but do not holster them.
"Identify yourself!"
"Captain." A fresh faced new recruit whispers in an astonished tone. "This is the guy that's been all over the news, Supreme."
His Captain doesn't seem impressed. "Maybe so, but I think we aught to take in ans hold him for questioning anyway."
"Good luck with that." the new recruit mutters to himself.
"I understand your concern, and I will be addressing the public in regards to any questions my presence may have brought up. But if you'll excuse me, I have a van to catch."
Before anyone has time to issue any sort of protest, Supreme is already airborne, and out of sight. He doesn't stick to the skies for long however, as he makes his landing seven blocks away a hundred feet or more ahead of the speeding Econoline. The van reaches the halfway point before its driver slams on the breaks and yanks the wheel with both hands steering to his left towards a back street. Ethan lets out an audible sigh and then reaches the back of the van before it reaches its destination and the rear end is lifted several feet off the ground as Supreme lifts it up by the bumper. The momentum of the speeding van however tears the shiny piece of chrome free into his hands. He lets the metal clang to the street as he uses his eyes to pop 3 of the vehicles tires. At the currently decelerated speed, it cannot go very far before the driver gives it up.
The whole chase takes less than five minutes, and when Supreme hands the 'get-away' driver over to the authorities, he's greeted by clicking cameras, and question upon question. "are you buddies with superman?", "where did you come from?", to the absurd "can you cure cancer?"
He answers with his usual 'no comment' and slowly raises into the St. Louis skyline until one voice catches his ear. "Supreme, Supreme, wait..." Maxine.
With a rush of air that parts the gaggle of paparazzi like the red seas, Ethan swoops down and scoops Maxine up into his arms. Her arms quickly tighten around his neck as they speed off to a distant towering condominium rooftop to talk in private.
"Whew! Wow, aren't you the popular one these days?"
"Just trying to do the right thing with these powers of mine, and its not everyday that St. Louis gets its very own 'hero'" That word always sounded odd to him, even more so coming from his own mouth.
"Yeah, I guess it is understandable... but I wanted to talk to you about what you suggested I do...." Tears began to pool in her eyes as she remembered their altercation last week. "What made you tell me to do that?"
Ethan's jaws parted ever so slightly in shock. "You're telling me that...?"
Maxine just shook her head and rushed toward Ethan, wrapping her arms around his neck so tightly that if he wasn't superhuman, he might have suffered a neck injury.
"My baby's back to normal, Ethan... thank you."
