Marc Spector was a killer then he became a hero. He began dealing vengeance in the name of his lord Khonshu, the God of Vengeance and God of the Moon. But that was before he lost himself. In an alley in the rain he crossed a line. He killed an evil man. Bushman. Still recovering from injuries suffered in that battle two years ago and haunted by visions that may be a God or a mad ghost of his past Marc Spector is Moon Knight once more. Now Marc Specter endlessly scours the night, searching for evil. His body and very identity shattered from his service to Khonshu, who controls his life...and just may bring about his death.
An Old Warehouse Facility, Long Island “Am I the only one who is enjoying this?” Frenchie’s specter stood off to the side his eyes nearly bulging from their sockets as he imitated Marc’s grasping for the noose around his neck. “You know I’m starting to think you are into this whole pain thing. Either that or you’re just a sissy b***h that keeps getting his ass handed to him every time he puts on his Halloween costume.” Moon Knight tried to force his fingers beneath the noose as the Haitian Priest Toro stood before him already starting his incantations. His utility belt lay to his left was just out of reach. If only Toro’s zombies weren’t standing around him he might be able to get himself free. “I’d give you a hand but I seem to have lost it when you got my ass killed.” Frenchie walked up and stared straight into Marc’s eyes. “See this? This is me being here for you. Yeah yeah I know I’m just watching you and not helping but &^%# that’s what friends are for you know. So you don’t have to die alone. Oh I guess you wouldn’t know anything about that would you?” Suddenly the roar of a powerful engine could be heard from outside, followed by the screeching of tires and the crash from the doors as they were knocked aside as the black Impala drove straight through into the warehouse. Toro’s only reaction was to slam his coco macaque to the ground as he continued his incantations. His zombie followers stopped what they were doing and immediately turned toward the newcomers after hearing the staff rap on the floor. “%$#@ me! The only thing missing from that entrance was the Dukes of Hazzard horn.” Frenchie slapped Moon Knight on the shoulder. “Too bad too. But hey I don’t want to ruin your hopes incase they don’t make it to you in time.” Moon Knight kicked up from the floor, lifting his legs above his head and behind the rope of the noose loosing the pressure just enough for him to inhale one more breath. The Impala’s headlights fell across the oncoming zombie horde as Dean and the others exited. Dean Winchester stood near the drivers door and took aim with his pistol squeezing off round after round into the zombies. “Oh man this is so much like an old Romero movie!” “Dean what if we can save these people? What if they’re just under his control like the werewolf?” Sam Winchester ran to the trunk of the Impala and popped it open pulling out a shotgun. “They are with out hope of salvation. These are the undead. There is no possession here.” Brother Voodoo answered as he walked past. “I knew there was a reason I liked Voodoo Brother.” Dean’s smirk showed he was for some strange and twisted reason having a good time. “You heard the man Sammy, now stop looking so concerned and aim for their heads.” If the brothers said anything else he did not hear it for his attention was now focused upon Toro. “You have wronged Baron Samedi for your use of his dead ones Priest! I shall bear witness to the righteous falling for your strike upon a ward of Kalfu.” Jack Russell could feel his other self still reeling from the connection with the Haitian priest and was afraid to release his werewolf form completely for fear he might fall under the control once more and do more harm than good to his friends. Still he wasn’t just an average Joe, he forced a partial conversion and leapt over the railing and up toward Moon Knight. Just before reaching him Toro turned his blind white eyes staring at the half wolf form. Another incantation escaped his lips and Jack found himself frozen in place as a great serpent began to coil around him. “Simbi welcomes you back brother wolf.” “You are not the Loa, Toro.” Brother Voodoo shouted as his own coco macaque left his hand and bounced toward the Haitian priest as a pogo stick would. “You are but a Gangan who is lost with in the powerful pull of the Asagwe.” Toro’s own coco macaque leapt from his hands and the to voodoo staffs began an odd dance of combat. Then Toro smiled his attention now fully upon Brother Voodoo. “Bacalou has granted me his strength and though I am blind I have the vision of Badessy. You are but a charlatan who rubs the blood of chickens on his face to dance for the tourists that come to see the black magics.” Brother Voodoo released his brothers astral form from with in him, sending Daniel toward Toro. Toro stood, his head held high as the shadow like form rushed toward him. His hand outstretched before him began to glow then unleashed a powerful beam of light that over took Daniel’s astral self before both disappeared in haze. “Marassa Jumeaux does not care for how you use your brothers soul little mambo. She has told me this herself. I speak to all of the Loa like they were my Rada.” Brother Voodoo strained as he tried to mentally collect the scattered remnants of his brother’s astral self only to leave himself open for a strike from Toro’s coco macaque that had weaved its way around his own. “Sam!” Dean looked at the direction of the platform letting his brother know he needed to go even if it left him alone to face the horde. Not delaying Sam tossed Dean his shotgun and broke free to the left of the zombie horde and made his way beneath the platform. He reached up and took hold of a piece of rusted steel and pulled himself up behind Moon Knight who was still struggling to free himself from what could only be described as an enchanted noose. He freed his knife from the sheath on his boot and with a series of words spoken quickly in Latin sliced through the rope. Moon Knight knelt of the ground nodding his thanks before he reached for his utility belt quickly fastening it around him. He moved hard and fast for Toro launching himself through the air until his boot made contact with the small of his back. Toro let out a howl of pain and his coco macaque fell to the ground allowing Brother Voodoo enough time to recover and summon his own binding spell that locked Toro to the ground. “You think you have beaten me!?!” Spit flew from his mouth as Toro shouted. “I am Loa! I am not so easily defeated!” He voice rose even higher as he began speaking in tongues calling on even more of his voodoo deities. Moon Knight dropped into a crouch beside him and a crescent dart appeared in his right hand. His left clamped down on Toro’s mouth, forcing two fingers in to keep it open and breaking Toro’s latest attempt at a ritual. “You can’t do that forever.” Brother Voodoo stood over them with Toro’s staff in his hands. He brought it down across his knee and snapped it in half. A shower of sparks spreading down over Moon Knight and Toro, who’s eyes grew wide at the sight. “It won’t stop him for long.” “No, but this will.” Moon Knight brought the crescent dart down quickly and drove it into Toro’s mouth. A twist and pull later he held the shaman’s tongue in his left hand. His eyes stared into the blind shaman’s eyes as he cried out. Moon Knight tilled his head to the side slightly as he stared before tossing the tongue to the side. “You just--did you?” Sam stood off and behind them Toro’s tongue still twisting upon the ground below him. “Cut the man some slack Sam.” Dean slumped against an old steel support beam. Bodies of numerous zombies surrounded him as he looked down upon his empty weapons. “He just saved our asses and more than likely kept that freak from doing things like this again. Kudos if you ask me.”
Moon Knight stood and helped Jack Russell to his feet, the snake form having dissipated as well. He turned and looked at Sam. “Would you have preferred his death?” When no answer came he continued. “I didn’t think so. Would you have preferred me to restrain him and take him to the police? He’d be out with in months if not weeks or days depending on the judge. This way he won’t be able to harm my friends or anyone else.” Moon Knight paused and looked down upon Toro who looked as if he was going into shock. He used his boot to kick him over so he did not choke on his own blood. “But if somehow he is able to overcome what I have done he should know I will be here to cut something else from him if that time ever comes.” Dean holstered his pistols and looked up at the others. “Can I get an Amen?” -TBC-
