After Maxine steps into the kitchen, Ethan's attention almost instantly goes to her unresponsive son. He directs a question into the corner of his mind the voice of Zedar had came from. "Is there anything we can do for this boy?"
A slight tingle courses down Ethan's spine as the answer comes from somewhere far beyond this world. "I'll see what I can figure out about what ails this youth, while you tend to other matters."
And as if on cue, a far off wail of siren registers on Supreme's ears as faint whistle. In a blur he races out through the front door and takes to the air. Scanning the ground for any emergency vehicles, he spots a fire truck off in the distances, maybe thirty five miles or so. Supreme then focuses his search in the direction that the fire engine races. Even without the aid of super vision, Ethan would be able to spot the bellowing jet black smoke rising to the sky chased by pillars of deep orange flames. Quicker than most men could process the thought, Supreme is there, and finds that the site being engulfed in flames is a storage area for Liquid Propane Gas. Before he can can come up with a plan of attack for neutralizing this potentially lethal situation however, one of the cylindrical bottles of propane, heated to breaking point, leap skyward like a rocket.
Supreme finds no problem in matching or surpassing the projectile's speed, and takes the tank of rocketing propane under arm firmly as it empties its fuel source. Then another tank shoots straight upward, and is quickly taken under arm in the same manner as the last. Before he can dispose of either though, a third tank rockets out in yet another angle, with no room for a third 'passenger', Supreme releases twin eye lasers that reduce the container to molten debris instantaneously.
As the molten shards fall to the ground like sparks from a firecracker, Supreme is surprised to see Superman absorb the cascade with his cape out stretched behind him. "Not bad, for a rookie attempt. But lets try to minimize, or eliminate any subsequent damages."
Feeling more than a little embarrassed at being criticized by an icon like Superman, Ethan offers his only excuse. "I guess I was just overwhelmed by..."
The excuse is cut short though as Clark plummets to the flame below. Shortly after his landing, Supreme makes his own, and hefts the spent containers off to one side.
"Sometimes it's best to head off these problems where they start." Gathering up a lungful of air Clark turns to the raging fire that threatens to engulf him, and unleashes a stream of intensely cold ice that makes the flames retreat ever so slowly, and then flicker out.
Still unsure how to take all of this, Supreme offers his thanks, but Clark will have none of it. "No thanks needed, just make sure our run-ins are of this nature, and we'll all sleep better." Superman then offers a nod and takes to the skies once again, and leaves Ethan behind in a streak of red and blue.

Seconds later, at Maxine's, Ethan offers his apologies for having to leave so abruptly. But Maxine insists that she just now came from the kitchen. They resume their conversation about Ethan Crane's of the past, and what heroics/atrocities they had been capable of. While retelling the story of Supreme being a part of World War II, Ethan's mind begins to wander back toward Maxine's child.
"I never answered you before, did I? Brandon has an advanced form of Autism. We have a nurse come by evenings, she tries all sorts of exercises to get him to respond to something, but nothing ever gets through." She winces as she looks toward the floor.
"I know that you aren't totally convinced I've been hearing the voice of a cosmic entity, but I asked, and Zedar 'touched' your son's mind. He doesn't have Autism, he's having seizures, that's why he hasn't learned to speak yet."
Maxine's face takes on an injured look as the words sink in. "Electro Convulsive Therapy would reset him. He'd be able to learn correctly then." The look of injury, changes to one of rage as she stands and sets her coffee down.
"You can't use ECT on a child, it could put him in a state of permanent stasis. For you to suggest that..."
"The lowest pulse setting would do."
Maxine's hand goes up, her finger pointing towards the front of her house. "Out! For you to tell me how to take care of my own... and for you to suggest some cosmic, whatcha-ma-call it told you all this! what kind of sicko are you?"
Supreme offers up no defense as he marches out the front door, and flies off southward. Starring after him, the righteous anger drains from her veins like a venom, and her mind settles in on the possibility of Ethan's suggestion.
