“Heh,” Teddy scoffed uneasily, unsure abut how he should go about mending this situation. All of his friends stood divided in turn of recent events, leaving him in the most uncomfortable in positions.
“Guys, I really don’t see the big deal, I think it’s a wonderful opportunity, and I don’t understand where all of these ill-feelings are coming from,” Billy interjected.
“Look, Billy,” Kate took a deep breath, hoping not to sound as angry or hurt as she really was, “I understand what you’re saying, but I can’t help but feel a little like you stabbed us in the back …” her words trailed off, she began to notice that her attempt at subtly was not what she had hoped it would be. Good job, Kate! she mentally scolded herself, along with a couple wicked glances from the rest of the Young Avengers all gathered here today.

----The Day Before//Kaplan Household----
“I think it’s a really bad idea, what if something goes wrong? Something not easily amendable? I really think you should think this through a little more …” Theodore tried to reason with his boyfriend.
“I think this is the best solution, I mean, my powers have been out of whack since that day at the Avengers’ Mansion. I really need to seek out some help, or the team could wind up paying for it,” his voice trailed off, not wanting to think about what might happen if his abilities caused any more problems than they already have.
“I really don’t think I have to remind you of some of the screw ups I’ve caused. There was that one battle last week where I tried to teleport us out of there, and I ended up slamming all seven of us into a wall. Then, there was the fight with a few mutants from The Brotherhood where I accidentally fueled Pyro’s powers, instead of extinguishing his flame. Do I really need to continue?”
“Okay, I get it. Really, I do, but who are you going to for help? There aren’t exactly very many magic users out there to chose from. I mean, your mom is missing, Dr. Strange has a lot of his own things going on, and Illyana is kind of dead.”
“I’m well aware of all of that, which is why I’ve decided to go to Zatanna. She’s one of the world’s most recognized magicians, and I’m hoping she could tell me what’s wrong with me. The problem is locating her, though. She hasn’t exactly had a large number of shows lately.”
“Porting to her?” Teddy asked a little skeptical, though he was sure he already knew the answer. The raven-haired boy nodded weakly to prove him right.
“No, I don’t want you to,” he quickly rebutted, “You just told me yourself that you’re abilities have been all screwy, there’s no way I’m letting you teleport to who knows where!”
“Well, then I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t ask for your permission,” Wiccan replied a little coldly. He knew the blonde meant well, but this was important to him, it was something he felt like he had to do for a greater cause.
“I’m going with you,” the Skrull-Kree hybrid declared, without any sort of consultation with the teleporter.
“No, I don’t want anything to happen to you in case something goes wrong,” William shot back, a slight tremor in his voice that indicated he knew something could go wrong.
“Which is exactly my point! If something happens, you might need back up, and that’s me,” Hulkling retorted with a strong conviction in his voice.
Moving closer to the spell caster, he wrapped his arms around the smaller teen, “I just to know that you’re safe, and if I’m with you, we can face anything together.”
Billy made a mad face as Teddy hugged him, he knew Mr. Altman was right, and he hated it. They were both trying to protect one another, but in the end Billy’s own opinion seemed to prove inferior. “IwanttoseeZatanna,IwanttoseeZatanna,Iwan…” he began mumbling, a blue aura engulfing the two Young Avengers as they began to dissipate.
A few moments later, the two teenage heroes materialized five stories in the air, in front of a huge billboard with a large, smiling face. Not exactly what I had in mind … Billy thought to himself, concentrating on levitation so he wouldn’t plummet to the concrete earth below him.
Altering his physiology to sprout wings, Teddy looked towards his partner, “Well, it could’ve been worst,” he smiled wryly, “Care to try again?”
