-Marlene Alraune’s Apartment-
Moon Knight released a guttural curse as his hand waved across in front of him a flurry of crescent darts following.
Grendel deftly avoided two of them the third catching him in the shoulder as the last sailed clear and impacted where Frenchie’s specter had just been standing. “That was meant for me wasn’t it?” You cheeky devil you? I didn’t think you had it in you to actually try and kill a dead guy? Seriously how many times do I have to tell you I’m not here?”
Grendel snapped his head around and stared hard where Frenchie stood and for a moment the specter wondered if he could sense him. He wondered if there was something more to this devil then the eyes beheld.
Moon Knight did not falter nor did he wait. He lunged for the man in black and they struggled for what seemed an eternity before he managed to slam his cestus glove into Grendel’s already injured shoulder.
Grendel fell away somehow managing to look graceful as he did so till he landed on his back and flipped the table over and into Moon Knight as he continued his charge. The table slammed into him and Moon Knight was rocked backward giving Grendel time to flip from his back and onto his feet, his forked blades weaving an arc through the air behind him.
Moon Knight regained his footing and flicked his truncheon down preparing for Grendel’s assault.
Grendel’s smile could be seen beneath his mask as he lowered his forked blade before him. The two looked as if this would be the final combat for one of them.
“Ooooo this is gonna be good.” Frenchie’s specter leaned over the couch tossing popcorn into his lipless mouth from the bowl that had been sitting on the table.
Moon Knight stepped forward just as Grendel squeezed the staff of his forked blade and the blades shot out. They sunk into the unsuspecting Moon Knight. One in his should the other in his left thigh. The surprise was the electrical discharge that followed the insulated lines into Moon Knights system. Marc screamed as the taser discharged and every muscle in his body tightened up freezing him until he fell to the ground.
“Oh man I did not see that one coming!” Frenchie threw the bowl of popcorn into the air. “Where does he get such wonderful toys!”
By the time Moon Knight had regained use of his body he felt as if he had just went twelve rounds with Wonderman. Everything hurt but he could already feel his control coming back to him. He rolled onto his knees then pushed himself up on all fours.
“There was never a doubt that I would win this day.” Grendel stood over him. A flick of his wrist and press of a button and the blades retracted back to the staff. With out another word he drove the blades down and into Moon Knights back near his abdomen.
Grendel let the staff stay and walked around his fallen competitor. His head leaned to the side as he watched the blood flow from Moon Knights body.
“You know that look doesn’t really feel right. Maybe if the world was black and white I might feel it but hey this is Technicolor!”
Grendel’s head snapped around to see Deadpool standing beneath the broken skylight. “Who are you?”
“The thing you don’t realize about us heroes, yeah that’s right I’m a hero now. I said it.” Deadpool jerked his thumb toward his chest. “We never travel alone.”
Grendel reached back for his staff but a red, white and blue shield slammed into his arm. Captain America dropped to a knee beside Moon Knight, the wound was obviously severe. “Stop playing around. He needs medical attention now!”
Frenchie’s specter glanced at the new players as Captain America called for a medevac. “Well I’ll be someone must have went to see the wizard and got himself a brain.”
“Okay, okay. I get it.” Deadpool raised his pistol and fired. “I’d say that I was sorry but I’m not.”
Grendel moved as the shot came and it grazed his head. Not liking the new odds he leapt toward Deadpool across Moon Knight and Captain America pulling his staff from Moon Knight as he did so. Captain America could do nothing but try and control the bleeding as the wounds spread and blood flowed more freely than before.
Deadpool dodged left as Grendel brought he blades down quickly, too quickly for him to avoid. With two slashes Deadpool stood with no arms.
“You are nothing now.” Grendel stated as he watched Deadpool stand there with his eyes wide.
“Yes I am.” Deadpool smiled as his arms began to grow back before Grendel’s eyes. “See it’s merely a flesh wound. You gotta love a healing factor. Am I right or am I right?”
Grendel knew when he was out of his means and charged away from Deadpool crashing through the window toward the street below.
He landed atop the hood of a car several stories below with a massive thud but somehow managed to leap off and disappear into a nearby alleyway.
Deadpool leaned out the window and watched as he fled but his vision was soon distorted as the Black Ops med evac hovered into position, the spotlights stealing his vision.
“Give me a hand here.” Captain America yelled as Deadpool pulled his head back inside.
“Okay but when we’re done here I have got to try that jump.” Deadpool cracked the sealant over the wounds getting much of it on himself in the process.
Captain America watched as medical personnel loaded Moon Knight into the hover vehicle. He glanced at Deadpool who’s hands were now stuck together and sighed. “You try to follow him. I’ll get the Mooncopter out of sight.”
Deadpool nodded then took off at a run toward the window leaping out as he shouted. “Look ma no hands!”
Captain America shook his head then looked at the doorway where Marlene stood. “His vitals were strong given his wounds. Come on I’ll take you to him.”
“Thank you.” Marlene’s voice was barely a whisper as she watched the sentinel of liberty climb the rope ladder to the still hovering Mooncopter.
