The world was black, as least for myself; my body was lying in a broken slump. I needed medical assistance, yet the Manhunter that had taken me apart piece by piece, now had plans for the rest of my teammates, and allowing them to take my body to medical aid was not on the cards. “Step aside creature” Tornado’s voice was similar to the robot that did this to me, metallic and cold. However inside the machine lives a power stronger than the heavens. “No man escapes the Manhunter” “I said stand aside” with no more greater an act than simply raising his hand, does the android let lose a tempest, swirling winds shift to speeds of over a hundred miles per hour. This time the Manhunter has no time to implement defences instead he slides backwards as his feet fail to hold him firm. Slamming in to nearby wreckage. “Mari are you injured” The androids eyes look upon me as already my bones begin to work themselves together “I’ll be alright, where is Hawk Girl” “There appears to be a scrambling signal in affect, I can not locate her” “Manhunter four nine seven one, adapt for justice league members, Vixen, Red Tornado and Hawk Girl” I see the red machine raise from the ground like a phoenix, burnt ashes that makes up the walls that is S.T.A.R labs now is nothing more than soot underneath the machines cold boot. “He moves” “NOT FOR LONG” her shadow floats above us like that of an angel, her wings spread wide, but she’s off, flying slightly tilted. It’s not until the metal shrapnel in her glistens underneath the suns light that I realise how hard it must be for her to even be airborne. “HAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” her scream is edgy like a hardened war cry, her wings fold and collapse and like a hawk in graceful motion she drops from the sky like a bird striking its prey. Just before she connects with her attacker do I realise the true intent of her rage, Nth metal, a rare element native to her home planet, forged into a mace that wields and channels energy of unknown energy. Like a knife she slams it hard into the machines heart, and for a brief second I would swear I heard a scream escape its lips. “Shayera get out of there now” my leg now healed I move with all the speed they can muster and for the next thirty seconds the world freezes, not for me. But for the back up that has finally arrived, like a blur he moves between the ticks of the second. The fastest man alive is his cry but right now he has other things to occupy his time. In the split of a second he moves Shayera, in the next he lifts Red Tornado to a safe distance before finally he comes back for me. By the time he puts me down, I’ve barely uttered the first word of my question. “What are you doing?” “Not my idea Vixen, you were getting creamed out there, so J’onn sent in the heavy hitters. Don’t worry V, we got your back” His eyes shoot heat as hot as the sun, but he knows all to well that this robot isn’t going down that easily, but it was to serve as nothing more than a distraction. The blow that follows forces everyone to cover his or her ears. Glass planes shatter from the nearby apartment building windows, as the Manhunter takes a blow from the world’s greatest superhero. “Manhunter four, nine, seven, one adjust for new league members Superman and Flash” The man of steel pounds hard against the warring machine, its hard shell dents and then repairs, constantly healing any attacks that manage to strike upon it. By the time we get back the Manhunter has already changed tactics, utilising a fraction of its power core, a yellow power battery, its releases a blast of energy from the centre of its chest. The beam burns the material off of Kal-El’s skin, his scream almost freezes the blood within me and I wonder if we are able to take this machine down. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Antimatter Universe: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ “SINESTRO, SINESTRO” the young ring bearer flies with speed, his yellow aura flickers like a dying light bulb. “Telack, what is the meaning of this?” “I bring news, of the Guardians” The mere mention of the blue skinned oppressors draws Sinestro’s lips to stretch even thinner than usual. “Speak then Telack” “They move” “Move” “They leave Oa” “Why don’t be ridiculous, the Guardians do not simply leave the protection of Oa” his own excitement at what is taking place forces his tongue. “Do you know why?” “I do, that is why they sent the corps against me” “Fool did you lead them here?” “No” “Good, then why are they leaving?” “It’s earth, they intend to attack earth” “Attack Earth, you took one to many hits” “I swear to you, they intend to attack earth and when they do they said something about bringing peace to the universe” Sinestro’s thin like frame paces amongst the crowd; his army stands in complete silence as they await their master’s words.
