Maxine slowly backs away, toward the door. "Ethan!?" Her eyes wide with concern, and her voice rich with terror.
At the mention of those two names Ethan Crane and Supreme, an entire lifetime of memories come flooding back to the silver haired man. All thought is lost in the stinging deluge of past lives that invade his mind, the pain causing both hands to cup firmly over his throbbing head.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doctor Asberry was just finishing up his rounds when he came to Ethan's room again. The poor man is nearly knocked to the floor as Maxine continues to distance herself from the sight of an obviously pained Ethan Crane. After brushing off the collision with Maxine, the doctor rushes to the bedside, and manages to get Ethan to set back so that he can get a better idea of what's happening to the man.
"It'll be okay, Ms. Winslow, it seems to be..." But as he looks up to the doorway, he sees that Maxine is gone.
The pain in Ethan's head eases considerably within the next few minutes, and the doctor takes his leave, informing him that a nurse will be by directly to him checked out even further, and possibly released. The door latches shut with a faint click after the doctor steps out, leaving Ethan in an oppressive silence.
"Don't get alarmed." A voice came, seemingly from everywhere.
Startled, Ethan flings his bed sheets aside as he springs upright. "Who's there?"
The voice seems somehow closer this time, as if by his bedside. "Didn't I just tell you not to do that?"
Ethan struggled to put a face to the voice that was becoming increasingly familiar now. "And it won't do you a lot of good to go the vocal route with communicating, unless of course you want people to think your nuts."
Coming to the unsettling conclusion that this voice was coming from deep in the back of his own mind, Ethan tried to address it.
"What are you?" Ethan asks the voice trying his best to direct his thoughts at the unseen person that he was talking to.
"First, you need to remember what the supremacy is..." The voice pauses while Ethan's mind sifts through dozens of memories that were long forgotten. The faces of the group of seemingly endless alternative Supreme's of any assortment of ages, races and genders come back to him as he recounts his visits with the Supremacy. "Yep, that's the Supremacy I was talking about. We're gonna have you up to speed before you know it. To answer your question, I'm the entity that created the Supremacy, and ultimately made you.
Ethan replies back, somewhat sceptically. "Well, that's pretty vague."
The voice seems to let out a sigh. "Almost every one of you are like this, even though you get your powers from some 'magical' meteor, you have the hardest time accepting that there's beings out there that in the big picture, dwarf you."
Suddenly feeling like a scolded child, Ethan quickly tries to explain himself. "What I meant was; that doesn't tell me a lot about you. There's suddenly someone in my mind, that seems to know my whole life, but I don't even have your name."
"I never had a name, really, although some men choose to call me Belar. As a group, me an my brothers were called The Keepers of Time. We all came up with the idea of the Supremacy, based on some of Earth's mightiest heroes, and forged our own super hero. It was my brother, Ul that came up with sending meteor to Earth for you to discover.I can go into further detail, but at the moment, their is a nurse on her way to collect a blood sample from you, and by now you know that metal doesn't fair well against your flesh."
Ethan looks around for an exit, the door would lead to the very corridor that the nurse was coming up, and he didn't feel like having to squirm his way through her and an onslaught of other medical personnel. To his right, midway up the wall lied his best bet, a large square single pained window. The voice in his mind gives him a nudge that lets him know this is his way out. "You can fly, after all." the voice reminds him.
Without a second thought, Ethan swings his legs down from his bed, and before he knows it is running at a speed that surprises him. The medical equipment that was monitoring his vitals pop from his body and fall to the floor as Ethan leaps at the window. At the last possible moment Ethan has doubts, what if the glass is thicker than it looks? But the answer comes in a satisfying crash, but as he plummets to the ground below, Ethan realizes what he should have been thinking about was how exactly it was that he use to fly.
