---Gotham Freight Yard---
It was a trap that much was obvious. But who was behind it? Moon Knight was an unwelcome visitor in this ghastly city. The Bat and his team of lackey’s didn’t play well with others and the villainous creatures of the night that they protected the city from were even worse. It made Moon Knight smile beneath his cowl as he realized he wasn’t the only one with a robust amount of crazy.
His body felt the cold but his mind ignored it as the crisp air told that the coming winter was going to be long and hard. Moon Knight lowered the infrared monocular and placed it back with in his belt. He normally didn’t carry all the gadgets but with his status in Gotham he had decided against patrolling in the Mooncopter. It was easier to hide in the bottoms of the dark city.
This is where a sensible hero would wait out his opponents until they had given up on the trap. Wearily they would leave and then the hero would pounce taking all of them by surprise and with little fanfare as he seized the night and the item they were to protect.
If there was one thing most people knew by now Moon Knight is not the sensible hero. In fact some considered him to be mentally ill. Though what one person considers ill and the next considers crazy are two completely different things. Just ask Batman and Joker. Each of the two if evaluated at the right time would be found incompetent by civilized standards. One just puts up a better façade.
Moon Knight moved through the freight yard with out a sound. He located one guard and quickly disposes of him. A hand over his mouth and a shot of about 10 mg of Ativan puts him down almost instantly. But just incase he field stripped his weapons and placed them beneath a different freight car.
Moon Knight circles the freight yard dispatching three more thugs before he reaches a fourth just as the man’s walkie crackles with static. “We’ve lost contact with posts two through five. Target has arrived. I repeat target is on scene.”
His head turns cautiously to survey his surroundings only to be met with a fist that snaps the cartilage in the man’s nose. He stumbles backward a step before Moon Knight grabs a hold of his coat and pulls him back to meet his fist again. He staggered in place completely unaware of his surroundings and he started to open his mouth to cry out. Moon Knight grabbed him by the sides of his head as he leapt into the air driving his knee into his face.
Moon Knight deftly let him fall in a clump of unconscious flesh with out a sound. He uses the last of his Ativan to make sure he sleeps for awhile. The walkie lay on the ground tempting him to speak and Moon Knight stares at it for some time before he shakes the thought from his mind of speaking into it. Just to antagonize his opponents and to let them know he was hunting. A sensible thought kept him from picking it up as he shut it off and pushed the body beneath another freight car.
A shadow barely appeared in a window from with in the freight car where the trap had been laid. It was quick and probably would have gone unnoticed most anyone else but Moon Knight’s attention was glued to the freight car. They were getting antsy from the lack of activity and the engine car fired to life as it slowly began to churn its pistons gaining enough momentum to begin its movement along the tracks.
“This is all wrong. He wasn’t supposed to let us get out of the freight yard.”
“It seems our White Knight is more of a gambler than Gotham’s own Dark Knight.” The small worm seemed to dance as his upper body weaved back and forth upon the shoulder where he sat. “It does make one wonder about him doesn’t it?”
“Wonder what?”
Mr. Mind never got to answer as a resounding thud came from the rooftop of the now fast moving freight car.
