---Arkham Asylum: C-Wing---
Shadow Thief stands in the middle of the almost pitch black hallway, having just melted through one of the walls. He had overheard some of the guards talking about the Joker while he was making his way through the Asylum. He heard one of them mention that The Joker was held in the C-Wing. Shadow Thief slowly walks up the hallway, reading the names of the patients on the cell doors. Finally after a few minutes of searching, he finds the cell he was looking for. The cell door appeared very rusty, with a single opening towards the top covered by a small panel. A few inches below the opening is a sign on the door.
Patient Name: The Joker
Status: Extremely Dangerous
PROCEED WITH CAUTION
Shadow Thief lets out a small chuckle, thinking to himself, This is gonna be interesting. He reaches out and slides open the little panel on the opening and peers inside. Through the darkness, a dark figure can just be out inside the room. It appears to be huddled up at the back corner of the cell. Shadow Thief closes the panel and begins melting through the door. He comes out on the other side, but he senses a very eerie change in the atmosphere. As if Arkham Asylum wasn't creepy enough, it seemed like The Joker's cell had an extra evil touch to it. Shadow Thief silently takes a step forward. After a few more moments of silence, Shadow Thief speaks.
"You are The Joker I presume?" he says quietly, staring hard at the dark outline of The Joker. He gets no response. The Joker doesn't even move. "I am Shadow Theif, and I have come to offer you a proposal." Again he awaits a response that doesn't come. He begins to wonder whether it was a mistake to come here. Whether they actually needed this crazed lunatic to accomplish their mission. This thought passes however and he continues on anyway. "I understand that you too want the Batman dead."
With the mention of that name, The Joker appears to move a little in the darkness. Shadow Thief could just make out what appeared to be a head straghtening up. assuming he now had The Joker's attention, he proceeds.
"I'm presenting you with the opportunity to join others like yourself. Together, we will make it our goal to rid this city of the Batman."
"Kill the Batman..." The words came soft and eerie from the darkness. The figure of The Joker now stood up from the ground and Shadow Thief could tell that they were now face to face.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!! KILL THE BATMAN!!!!!" This startled Shadow Thief and he quickly jumped backwards and hit the wall of the cell. The Joker's laugh seemed to echo forever within the walls. Then suddenly, a small flame appeared. The Joker had lit a small zippo lighter in front of his face. Shadow Theif stared at the face of The Joker. His face paint was smeared all about and those horendous scars that put a permanent smile on the face of The Joker sent a chill down Shadow Thief's spine.
Joker stretched out his arm, still holding the lighter. He then pulled another zippo lighter from his pocket and igntied it as well. The flames illuminated the cell and Shadow Thief could see large words smeared on the back wall of the cell.
KILL THE BATMAN
The message appeared to be smeared on the wall with blood. Shadow Theif found himself wondering if The Joker didn't use his own blood to enscribe the chilling message. He stared back at The Joker who now had a large smile on his face.
"For three years," The Joker started, now much louder then before, "I've been locked away here...and this city still has not yet rid itself of its bat problem?"
"No," Shadow Thief said, finally finding the courage to speak, "thats why I'm here. We need you to help us dispose of Batman and his friends. And after we have people's hero. this city will be ours to do as we please with it."
"Hmmm, well I certainly do like the idea, but then again, I've never been much of a team player. HAHAHAHAHA!" The Joker laughs histerically at his own comment as Shadow Thief steps forward.
"So, are you in?" Shadow Theif extends his hand towards The Joker and waits for his reply.
"Hmmmm, what to do, what to do," Joker says as he drops one of the lighters. "Consider this my answer." With that, Joker reaches into his pocket and pulls something out. He reaches over and sticks the object into Shadow Thief's pocket. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some important 'planning' to do."
Shadow Theif nods and turns to the cell door. He melts back through it and appears back into the hallway. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the item The Joker gave him. Its a joker card. Shadow Thief puts the card back into his pocket and walks down the hall with a smirk on his face. In the distance, The Joker can be heard.
"HAHAHAHA! KILL THE BATMAN! HAHAHAHA!"
