"So where are we exactly?" Melody asks running a hand through her soft strawberry blonde hair.
"Not really a where Ms. Case, more like a when to be more accurate. In fact 'whens' would be more appropriate." Skeets hovers over Melody who sits in one of the Time Sphere's chairs. "Dr. Hunter's Time Sphere allows us to travel outside of traditional linear space. Think of...."
"Ok, I think I get it..." Melody rolls her eyes, I smile as I look back at her, and even through all of this she's still magnificent. I...
"Brother Eye exists outside of traditional space, and time, in its own separate world." Rip starts his lecture, Supernova watches images float through the time stream outside. I try to catch glimpses of myself. "You two are going to have destroy it."
"And how might we do that?"
"With this." Rip takes out a small flash drive. "In the 31st Century a group of children calling themselves the Legion of Superheroes will fight something similar, they barely win and defeat it with this."
"So we're going to upload a virus to it and hope that works?" Looks like I was on the right track, not sure if I could have reproduced a programming from the 31st century but you never know. Still a pretty big gamble, similar isn't the same.
"You're going to shift it back into regular space and the realigning of it's molecules from the phase shift is going to cause an explosion." Rip is matter of fact with his statements; I can see the wear being in charge of the time stream has caused him.
"Why do you need two of us?" I ask, if he already has a way to defeat it then why am I here?
"The Supernova suit has been designed to deal with Brother Eye's defenses but Michael has..."
"Hey watch it!" Supernova shouts turning his attention towards the two of us.
"I believe what Mr. Hunter is trying to say is that Mr. Kord's abilities when dealing with technologies that are new to him is much more adaptable then you sir." Skeets calms Supernova down.
"That's about it. Ted is going to retrofit the virus for Brother Eye, make sure that this thing can't spread out into time or the Multiverse."
"So that's all it's going to take?" I hold the flash drive in my hand, the fate of the world in this tiny little device.
"Yup simple as that right?" Rip smiles, I think the Time Sphere is slowing down. "You’re going to need these though."
"How is a Frisbee going to help us?" Rip tosses a small disk to Supernova and myself.
"It will tether you to the Time Sphere, all you have to do is hit it and it will pull you back here, like a bungee cord." I fasten the disk to my utility belt and look towards the back of the Time Sphere. Mel is standing now, her body is stiff. I walk towards the back leaving Supernova and Rip at the front.
"You're going to come back this time right? I don't want to..." I cut her off by placing my lips on top of hers before she can finish.
"That enough of an answer?" I ask, feeling Rip's hand on my shoulder, I think it's time. She says something but I can't understand her as she fades into a brilliant white light.
