The door bell rang at Eagle Plaza. It was the first visitor Forge had since locking himself away devoting his time and energy to the redevelopment of his inventions. The events of the past weeks had shaken him so he checked the monitors, product of the new security beef up, and saw a hulking figure in a trench coat standing outside his door. Forge could not make out who the man was and so said into a microphone, “Who is it?”
The microphone happened to be near the camera as well so when the figure turned to the source of the sound, Forge managed to get a look at the man’s face. Forge’s blood boiled when he saw the ‘M’ shaped scar over Bishop’s eye. On top of that Bishop was smiling up at the camera as though he hadn’t shot Forge just weeks earlier while chasing after the first mutant since M-Day. He grabbed the microphone and yelled into it:
“You got a lot of nerve showing up here Bishop! If it wasn’t for M Day I’d kill you right now!”
Although still seething, confusion struck Forge at the bewildered look on Bishop’s face at these harsh, but warranted, words. Bishop, still looking up at where the voice had come from said:
“I assume you can hear me? I must say I expected a little warmer welcome after being away for a year.”
These words took Forge by surprise. Away for a year? What did that mean? Bishop had been around this entire time. He had just watched him attack a child, shoot the Professor and shoot Forge himself. No this had to be some sort of trick. But then, trickery had never been something Bishop was one to do. Forge decided to see where this could lead. Worst case scenario Bishop attacks and he has to use the teleporter he set up in the apartment. He wasn’t quite ready to let the man into his home yet though.
“What are you trying to pull?”
Bishop just laughed and put his hands up over his head saying, “Alright you got me! I’m going to reach into my coat.” His hand started moving down towards the inside of the trench coat. “I’m not going for a weapon.” Forge just watched waiting for him to make a move. He could disable Bishop from the control panel he sat at with a few simple key strokes linked to the defensive technology around the entrance. “I wanted to celebrate… can you see these from here?”
Forge zoomed in on the two pieces of paper. Bishop called out again, “Indians are in town!”
Well that convinced Forge that this was the real Bishop. It was not well known that Forge was a big supported of Cleveland. There was still the chance that Bishop could be trying to pull a fast one but Forge decided to let him in and continue the conversation face to face. There were a few things he had up his own sleeves to test Bishop’s true motives.
