Hope it's not to late to reply to this, and yes everyone I'm still here just been busy finishing up my summer job and getting ready for the school year with New Teacher Training which involves sitting and more sitting and when you think there can't be anymore sitting, there's more. But anyway....
I'm really enjoying Green Lantern at the moment, Blackest Night is a cool concept and tieing the Emotional Spectrum to everything I thought was a sweet idea (it makes sense to me lol). And Green Lantern Corps is awesome as well, Sodam Yat is the man. And Gary to reply to your question Blackest Night 1 I thought was good, really sets a dark tone for everything and gorgeous art work ontop of great character stuff.
Secret Six is another title I'm enjoying, Gail Simone makes each of the Six unique and really three dimensional characters, her Bane is badass. If you're not reading it and can track it down I'd recommend doing so.
Batwoman and Batman and Robin are both excellent Bat books. The story is strong in both but the art work is worth the price on both books.
On the Marvel side of things, Invincible Iron Man hits all the right notes for me. After Tony being a douche for so long its nice to see him redeeming himself. And for once I actually like Maria Hill. Go figure.
Secret Warriors is also a book that I look forward to, Nick Fury is the badass he always should be, gets some great one liners. And his band of secret warriors as well as the twists with Hydra are fun ideas with lots of potential.
I liked Captain Britain but it's been canceled, best use of Dracula in any medium in a long time.
In terms of trades and collections, just finished the third Starman Omnibus and love that series, the omnibuses have been my first exposure to it and it's been great.
I would probably buy/read to many comics but as everyone here knows there's just something about them 
. Anyway good topic nice to see people discussing and getting active even if its on the OOC (Looks at myself).
On another note, I have some ideas for stories, just need to find some time to write them, so hopefully should be posting stuff regularly again soon. Spider-Woman great to have you back, you're a great addition to the site.
