Yeah the coaches are emphasizing speed and hopefully at the right positions this time. I have about had it with 245 lb DE who are supposed to be great speed rushers and they have 1 or 2 sacks on the season. Linebackers who are soft because the coaches moved high school safeties or tailbacks to inside linebacker and they arent tough enough to fill the gaps. I am simply saying that the 40 is overrated, many NFL people will tell you the same thing, and as far as film is concerned, yes if it is High school recruiting then you will often run across film where everyone but the kid you are recruiting is running slow but not practice tape at this level. When you go watch the practices on film and the guy is moving well on tape who cares if he ran a 4.7 or a 4.8 if he is getting to the man he needs to get too. Dont be caught up on numbers, 490lb bench doesnt make you a good football player.
: Why would College & NFL scouts put such a
: great emphasis on the 40 if it meant nothing?
: Film can lie if everyone around you is
: playing at a slower speed. Now I agree if
: your a player, your a player and there is
: something to be said about that but speed is
: what our coaches are definately emphasizing
: in their latest recruiting class if you
: noticed.
