''I'll have about 50 people coming.'' Easlick, a senior, has had to completely transform his game since coming to Tech in 1999 on a wrestling scholarship. As a high school tailback, Easlick was used to carrying the ball 25 times a game. But the Hokies placed him at fullback, needing his size and blocking ability more than his speed. Whenever Easlick gets the ball now, center Jake Grove said, his teammates jokingly refer to it as a ''trick play.'' Easlick said he can't argue with the decision. Kevin Jones and Cedric Humes can run circles around him, and he knows it. ''When those guys get the ball, they make things happen,'' he said. While the Hokies are rich in talented running backs, they had a major need for a blocking fullback since Jarrett Ferguson graduated after the 2001 season. By moving to fullback, Easlick has become indispensable. ''I think he's one of the real key players on our team,'' Beamer said. ''He won't have the stats, but he's as valuable as anyone we've got on this team.''
