I know our homeowner's insurance increased by close to 50% when we renewed it ( with a company we were shuttled to when our insurer decided not to renew any insurance policies, we had never had a claim since Andrew in 1992, and that was with a different carrier.
In general, insurance companies tend to regard frequent or recurrent non-hurricane related claims by policyholders ( such as for fire, flooding, roof damage, etc) as suspicious, possibly related to fraud, and may cancel homeowner's insurance altogether after the first or second claim- they'll certainly raise the rates.
They generally don't count the claims in a wide-spread natural disaster against the policyholders. I recall when we had to provide the information as to how many claims we had filed with an insurance company previously when we got new insurance, they specified not to count losses from hurricane Andrew.
