Re: Sounds like a fridge I once had!
That was me when I lived in my apartment until I moved to where I am now. It was an apartment-sized fridge and no frost free. When the ice built up I had to manually defrost it. I found a system that worked beautifully and the fridge stayed running. I took everything out of the freezer and wrapped it in newspaper and put it in the fridge section. Then I took my large Revere stainless steel pan, filled it with water and got it to a hard boiling roll. I put a wooden cutting board on top of the ice in the freezer, covered the pan, slid the pan onto the cutting board, quickly yanked the top off and shut the freezer door and fridge door. It completey melted the ice within 45 minutes and the food stayed frozen. The ice fell down into a tray right below the freezer as it melted and all I had to do was dump the ice into the sink and run hot water to melt it. Cathy
