Don't forget, Byrne also drew WEST COAST AVENGERS/AVENGERS WEST COAST.
I am praying Slott doesn't get his hands on Wanda. I tremble at the slaughter job he will do on her. As is well known, I am not a fan of Slott's writing style for various reasons. Hopefully, Marvel will stick with Heinberg's planned storyline.

: One big possible "uh oh" that I
: missed from the Newsarama.com reports. This
: one is from then end of the Dan Slott on
: Mighty Avengers: The "AVENGERS
: Avengers" column.

:
: [ b]NRAMA: But that begs the question, Dan
: -- you're a long-time Avengers fan. Is this
: the geek-out of a lifetime for you?
:
: DS: Oh, it's HUGE! It's ENORMOUS. I'm
: totally a long-time Avengers fan. We've got
: these things... AAAAh!!! I'm dying to tell
: you stuff. Like, I'd love to say who the
: first villain is. For the first villain,
: it's from one of my favorite runs when John
: Byrne was drawing the Avengers, and guys
: like [Roger] Stern and [David] Micheline,
: and it's a big, powerful Avengers villain.
: And when people hear it, they'll say,
: "OOOH!" 'Cause if I tell you, it
: might give away too many secrets -- what
: that villain is tied into, and the
: characters.
:
: It's not Ultron. But I can't wait until we
: do some Ultron stuff.
:
: NRAMA: Well, yeah. With Jocasta on the team.
:
: DS: Yeah, with Jocasta, the bride of Ultron,
: we've got to do an Ultron story. But, yeah,
: we've got a major Avengers villain for the
: first three issues. We're going to have a
: throw-down with another major Marvel
: Universe team -- a team that is
: "their-own-comic-book-worthy."
: 'Cause I'm on The Initiative, which is fun,
: dealing with, "Oooo, look! It's the
: Texas Rangers!" But no, this isn't like
: that. This is mainstream Marvel to the core.
: This is Mighty Avengers. They're going to
: have a big throw-down, and I'm really
: excited for when people see what their base
: is going to be -- their headquarters, where
: they're working out of. It's really weird.
: But it's going to be cool.
:
:
: The only "Avengers" issues that
: Byrne penciled were 181-191, the biggest
: storyline of which was Wanda & Pietro's
: "Yesterday Quest" to Wundagore in
: search of their true origins. The big
: villain here was Wanda, possessed by the
: demon Cthon. (I don't think they're going to
: amaze fandom by bringing back Django's
: puppets, the Absorbing Man, Deathbird, or
: the Grey Gargoyle, the only other villains
: from the Byrne/Micheline/Stern run that Dan
: Slott mentions).
:
: Byrne also wrote/drew those issues of
: "Avengers West Coast" in which the
: Scarlet Witch was possessed/went mad again.
:
: This may not bode well for Wanda . . .
: unless they somehow use Cthon as the deus
: ex machina to explain away all the crap
: that Byrne and Bendis have wrought on her.
: If that's the case, I'm thinking that the
: "throw-down" with another major
: Marvel Universe
: "their-own-comic-book-worthy" team
: just might be the Young Avengers, out to
: protect "Wiccan & Speed's mom.
