Now when I read of this, it was understandable. Maybe even fated, after what Byrne did to her marriage. Not to mention how it seems other authors have been with their origins. If we see Byrne as the author we Avenger fans know something bad is going to happen.
This would be a little bit easier on us fans if Wanda didn't get with Captain America at one point. Just in the matter of poor Clint's self-esteem. Granted, both Steve and Wanda had a crush on each other but the age difference was always in the way. Captain America took on a more fatherly rank while Wanda tried to understand that her crush was never going to be more than that.
Hawkeye could never really live up to the Scarlet Witch's standards of a man and well, Quicksilver also saw him more as a loose cannon. That is when Pietro wasn't playing the part in the early series himself. So now, seeing Wanda, deprived of her memory and left with just her basic human/mutant thinking, she clings to Clint? Because now they are more of an equal?
I have always wanted to see Hawkeye grow up and settle down more. After all of these years, is it finally Hawkeye's turn to get the girl and keep her? It's an interesting twist but I can't say I have ever been impressed with Marvel turning the Scarlet Witch into every guys playboy bunny. Wanda's behavior in her hometown, just falling into bed with Clint seemed, uncharacteristic for her. Sure she has grown up but has she grown so lost that she will cling to a guy she doesn't know or really remember? I believe the concept was that she held a feeling of familiarity with this strange man and a need to seek some form of forgiveness? Yet usually, even Clint would find her too vulnerable in this place? She is lost. Did he honestly believe his sleeping with her would bring her back? I suppose for him, it was a reassurance that the love they shared, which has always been on a platonic level, would heal them both? Especially the pain it must have brought to Clint after realizing she killed him. A guess a part of him wishes she would have the restraint she usually manifested with the Vision? That their love was strong enough to prevent her from harming him too much? I would think it would hurt him more to think he might have taken advantage of her? Okay, one of Clint's character weakness' but not usually Wanda's? Sleeping with someone usually puts your friendship in a very akward position. Of course for Marvel, they can fun with the whole guilt trip and two people trying to pretend they don't care enough for the other person. Though didn't we go through that enough with Wanda and Simon? What is going on in the writers head? It can't help but feel kind of like, okay, Clint found her so now what? Let's give him what he always wanted just for the hell of it? Is this how it was all suppose to happen? How can it not feel like once again, the Scarlet Witch loses her character to behave desperately? How does Clint find this attractive?
Well, he has done worse? How will Wanda though reconcile this action? It seemed to come out of nowhere and went nowhere? I guess we will see but I as usual, I much rather have seen them at least re-establish some kind of bond before Wanda put to risk a long standing friendship. It is just too sad to once again see Wanda in a such a state of disrepair. They just can't seem to beat up enough on her life which is too bad because she was one of the reason I started buying comics in the first place.
Humm...I was disappointed when Marvel decided that the Scarlet Witch and Wonderman couldn't be together. This alternate thing with Nightcrawler is just a strange thing. I can see the ethnic relationship between them some and he isn't stupid. I'll just let that be in whatever world they want it to be in. I don't really mind Wanda with Clint. I always thought they would have a rather exciting, if oftentimes combative relationship. What fan of the Scarlet Witch can forget Clint's proposal of sorts? "Wedding Bells in your future?" Ah well. I like her character better settled down and Married. I actually loved the twins and thought Steve Englehart, the writing god that he is, came up with a pretty ingenious way to make all of that happen.
A superhero family? Who would have dared? Not Marvel. At least not for very long. That was too bad but the idea of Clint bringing Wanda back to reality and helping her re-adjust seems reasonable and sane. Of course, the idea of poor Clint being the end of the line kind of guy, especially after Cap, has got to hurt your ego some. Though at least hopefully, Marvel can kind of try to allow a few superheroines to maintain a certain level of dignity? Hopefully, maybe? Marvel can bring her back to the good side for awhile? That seems to be hoping for too much. Of course it would make me want to buy comics again.
It was interesting reading the posts here. Perhaps in time, I can re-size your background so that it doesn't have to keep repeating and show up as a single picture? If you have a re-sizing picture program like I do, all you need to do is go into properties and resize the pictures width so that it better fits this page. I do like the background picture.
When I have so more time to dig out my comics. I'll give you some of my favorite pictures of the Scarlet Witch. She has always been my favorite. I just lost interest when they started to just use her as a weapon for mass destruction. I understood, her powers are quite limitless. The storyline of her altering reality so extremely was creative. When they took her off of the Avengers, that was when I stopped buying Comics.
Yet, my collection is awesome and I have a lot of first editions with pictures I don't mind sharing. Ah, for the time and days when I posted on that rogue website with the Baron Zemo and pals . I never wrote too much fanfiction, naughty me but I enjoyed what others wrote. I had a family and things got busy at home. That and how much could I really go on complaining about what idiots Marvel was for taking my favorite character off of the team? If they put her somewhere else, alright but no where? Ah well, it was time for me to go onto reading more of the classics.
It would be nice, to see Hawkeye/ Rodin, become a stable influence in the New Avengers and to have him and the Scarlet Witch once again working side by side. Of course, who knows what those insane rulers of Marvel have planned for my favorite character next? Until then, I will keep checking your mssg. board to see if I have a reason to ever haunt a comic store again.
Nice work.
You have done a nice job here. I like the board and it is nice to see some more fans of Wanda's character posting regularly on a mssg board. I miss our old friend who ran the now defunct Scarlet Witch Website.
I even made the Scarlet Witch's Gypsy Costume for Halloween and it is still one of my favorites to wear. Though no one in my town recognized it or acknowledged her character. Ah well. The cape comes in handy when it gets cold at night.
