From what I've read, most readers disliked this issue and disliked the Mystic Arcana stuff in general. Me, I enjoyed this issue for what it was: a Wanda Maximoff story. I'm not buying the other one-shots, and I'm not interested in Ian McNee's story. I bought this issue for my girl Wanda, and so I was able to enjoy it for what I thought it was: a stand-alone story about the Scarlet Witch that took place during her childhood. Her connection to Chthon was used, too, which I thought was a nice touch. I was also glad to see Margali Szardos again (albeit her younger self), too, and it was nice to see Jack Russell's parents around as well. I recognized Gregor Russoff's name right away. Heck, even Taboo and Damballah were there, along with Llyra, Nagala and the Serpent Crown (in the back-up tale). Considering we know what happens to poor Wanda, it was nice to see some foreshadowing in the story. Wanda was sweet and innocent when she was a child, but she was fated to become the most powerful sorceress in existence, and she certainly has fulfilled that prophecy quite tragically. The art, by the way, was pretty nice, too.
