They saw their entire tribe (or clan or whatever it's called) wiped out and after briefly fleeing they were rescued by Magneto. There had to be some anger involved there and maybe they told themselves there were otehr reasons for staying that anger had to be the true motivation. I believe they eventually woke up and said 'my god, what have we done' but that that stain is there. It and not Maximus is the root when Pietro whigs out. It made sure that whatever good Wanda builds, the foundation has serious cracks in it that always show. And Lorna? She was lied to about her parentage, genetically manipulated, mind raped by both Erik The Red and Malice, the love of her life is not good for her long term, and she was at the epicenter of genocide. How could she be stable long term?
