Nice pics. I like that mass planting of Sabal minors. Are those the Oklahoma native ones? Cheers, Joe Southern Gulf Islands, zone 8b/9a Dry Springs & Summers months and mild wet winters.Annual precip. approx. 30" inches, Extreme winter min. temps. usually not below 20 F.

Yes, those are native minors used at the main intrance to the new cultural center (the campus is under construction and should open next year) Hope they use more minors in the gardens.

The water is from several freshwater springs and is around 65 degrees year round. Mineral springs can also be found in the park.

I can't take credit for the S. minors at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, but I know who did. Steve Bieberich, owner of Sunshine Nursery in Clinton OK. www.sunshinenursery.com They specialize in native plants. He indicated that the Chickasaw wanted to use native plants that represented their original home in the Southeast; before they were forced to move to Indian Territory. After visiting this park near Sulphur, OK. I can understand why the Indians called this place " the Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters."
