Rainbow Burst cactus bloom. This has to come in before it gets down to 20F. I've never had this type of cactus before. I got it a month ago a Lowes for maybe $6:
Agave pups (Agave parryi v neomexicana x utahensis). This should be cold hardy to z5. I got it about 3-4 weeks ago and noticed the 8 new pups a week ago. The Rainbow Burst cactus is at the top left:
A S. minor in bloom I got it 4 yrs ago in Myrtle Beach. I've never had one of these bloom:
Y. elata bloom. I've had this for 5-6 yrs and this is its first bloom. Rabbits chew off some of the lower leaves and Robins strip off some of the dead leaves for their nests:
Agave Beetle damage on Y. recurvifolia. I've also noticed Black Aphids on these. I didn't realize I had infestations for possibly yrs until about a week ago. They've been growing slower than all my other Yuccas. I'm using insect oil soap on them now and the bugs are gone. I inspect these closely once per week now:
Older cold or insect damage on Y. gloriosa. Also now using insect oil soap on these:
I decided to try a Philodendron bipinnatifidum (probably?). I've never had one before. I plan to use it as a house plant in the winter. Elephant Ears have been a lot of work for me to overwinter so I want to see how this goes. For me, Elephant Ears have also been slow growing indoors in the winter. I've only had the P. bipinnatifidum for a few weeks and it has almost 10 new leaves on it. I see them all over central and S. FL:
Sensitive Ferns. I've always liked them because they remind me of Philodendron bipinnatifidums. I planted these 2 plants next to each other:
