I have pruned Trachys more than I should've and I find that they want to build their crown back before trunking again . I've made mistakes and defibered them way higher than I should've too . They will stall out if they get whacked too hard .
That Trachy at the restaurant actually did trunk up pretty good between hackings . Check it out again and look at that handicap sign and you'll see .
I just wish it could trunk up higher than they can reach so they will leave it alone one of these years . The landscapers don't know they are stalling it out , they just want more light under it , or want to keep it off the building , or just want to hack on something for no real reason ?
