I heard you mention you dont want to wake up to Cottonmouths or gators in your beautiful state. A Tn Water Resource Officer and I spoke recently at the county fair about the limits these creatures are making and he said those two cannot survive north of Virginia Beach on the Mid Atlantic.
Reports of Moccasins found in rivers and lakes in OH, PA, NJ and other parts of VA are just water snakes that look like Moccasins.
He also said juvenile Copperheads and juvenile Moccasins do look similar and thats when people get the idea they saw a Moc in those places. So if this is true, you are home free my friend. Actually Im on the border region where there are water Moccasins and like you, I have no desire to be around that pit viper but it is a possibility for me and a reality for Sam in his new location in South Tennessee.
