Its important to note that the gators most always seen in West Tennessee are not in the Mississippi River but in several counties in west Tennessee north of the state of Mississippi.
There is a bayou that is in the city of Memphis where alligators are seen a few times a year. There is a nature park there and some incredible photos were taken of them decades ago in that spot.
They will stick their snouts above the water line in freezing weather and their heads have been known to freeze in place. Must see amazing survival techniques
Tennessee's Alligator Snapping Turtle is something you dont wont to mess with either, and also found in the southern states.
