You may be right Lucas. They look like they are planted straight into some sandy/gravel type soil. Almost like they planted them straight into the gravel parking lot.
I'm not sure how cold they've seen the last two winters, but the official lows in Tahlequah hit -2F three times in the last two winters. The winter before last was pretty mild besides the one strong cold blast. Last winter had some bitter prolonged cold though. Both of the last two winters have had very little snow or ice for this part of Oklahoma though.
