I think looking in the past is part of the problem. I'm much more interested in engaging in good discussion, theories, best practices, and learning from whoever it may be...past, present, or future posters. In my opinion, too many people are stuck in "my backyard only" mentality. Just an observation.
I also remember a few posts from people annoyed Florida posters were on here as they find it bragging (whatever that means). It is subtropical here and we have questions and experiences as well to share. I do think this is why we lost a lot of the posters from Florida and other tropical areas. Other than personal time, the main reason I engage elsewhere is convenience. This board is still in the 1990s and posting pictures is just too time consuming for the minimal return discussion. Other places you just click upload and pick right from your phone. I know there is a cost associated with that and our mods have done a nice job. But it is a fact people like the modern ease of dialogue....easy uploads and lots of emojis.
Just my 2 cents.
