embothrium should do o.k. especially in the fog belt near the coast---it needs acid soil and cool summers.
telopea, especially the gorgeous t. speciocissima should do even better as it's more tolerant of some sun and heat as well as poor sandy soil.

grow eucalyptus, banksias, telopeas, grevilleas, bottlebrush, mexican pines and oaks
