It may have been the worst winter since '89-'90, but from what I've read Dec 1989 was far, far worse in terms of duration. We didn't have but a trace of frozen precipitation, but the bayou behind my house which is at least 150 yards froze completely across to the point it probably could have been walked across all the way. The native threadfish shad in this body of water were completely winter killed. I do alot of fishing/netting out there and initially I thought they were a bunch of saltwater baitfish that had been dumped in there (since they look like saltwater fish).
