Excellent comments Jim.
I agree with you. Mine is planted in a very sunny, fast draining location. This far north they need to be kept quite dry over winter for a much better chance of survival.
On the east coast I don't think they can survive unprotected north of Atlantic City. I've never seen another one here on Long Island. As I travel south, I have started to notice them in AC, Wildwood and of course Delaware and Maryland.
