sunset can be useful but it also can be way off base in it's zone recommendations that said, my 2001 edition of the "western garden book" says zone 6 (interior valleys of the PNW) are good for cistus but NOT 4 and 5 which is funny because many cistus do just fine here in Sunset 5 on the coast. go figure.
