Interesting read on Nashville's tornado from 20 years ago today.

I remember riding through traffic about 45 minutes after, on our way through downtown from Murfreesboro that day, with no radio because all the signals were down. There were no details. Once we got to downtown, a semi was laying across I-24 and people were driving around it, squeezing through the shoulder. Then, there was a small magnolia broken off from the trunk in the middle of the interstate right after that amidst lots of signs and broken glass.
We drove on a hill to see downtown later that night and it was completely black. It was the most eerie sight. When Nashville re-opened that Monday, we drove through with a video camera to film all the tall buildings without glass. It still blows my mind that not more people were killed. The YouTube videos are pretty interesting of the tornado itself.
