If there is one pet peeve I have, it's when people let plant size and especially height go beyond what I call the building size/plant size ratio. A group of plants that all reach the roof line look out of place to me. One tree or shrub can be a focal point but not all of them. I'm in process of clearing the entire area and starting over. I look for slower growing plants and those which are easier maintenance since things grow so fast here. I'm curious if others agree.
