I have one that has yellow flowers. For a day or two, all you see is the flowers. But, the slightest breeze blows the flowers off the tree. Then, there is a yellow carpet under the tree. With the prevailing winds here in East Central Florida, the entire show typically lasts just a few days.
I suspect in their native range (South America), the winds aren't as strong and the show lasts a bit longer.
But, once established, they are rock solid in this area. They are even used for public plantings. They are heavily planted in the medians of the highways in my area.
Mine has been in the ground since 1984.
