For those unaware of Plano's location, it's about 55 miles south of the latitude of McCurtain County, Oklahoma, generally accepted as the northwesternmost native range of Sabal Minor.
It is about 17 miles NNE of Dallas.
This is an area where palms grow in cultivation, but where winters can still take a toll on many trunking palms.
