My very large Sabal mexicanas have some substantial frond burn from the 9F we had with strong winds. My Sabal palmetto has very little. Sabal mexicana has a near legendary hardiness in Dallas, and I suspect if you took the seed from one of their 80's survivors, you may not see the leaf burn you would with just a typical sourced mexicana (like mine).
I plan to post some photos of the damage in my yard here when I get some time in the near future. It's pretty interesting to see comparison of single digit performance it a place as far south as mine, because all my palms have grown to huge proportions, and often we don't get to see those comparisons at such large, established sizes
