For me, they are about the same as adults, but S. palmetto seems to handle the cold a bit better as a young plant. Both sort of turn off-color during the winter: a sort of olive green with yellow undertones, but they green up nicely when the weather warms up. I think that both might benefit with lime applications in really acid soil.
