I'm sure they planted that elastica thinking that it would never get as big as it has. Or will grow to be.
The Burgundy elasticas that you find for sale in retail locations are marginal here. They don't really enjoy our winters or summers. They'll fry in both.
The green handle the heat better. And seem to rebound from a freeze faster.
It's a shame they weren't more commonly found for sale. It's rather rare to find a pure green.
