This sounds strange but the only times I have ever tried protecting, the palm has fared worse or died. I'm not saying don't protect. I'm just not good at protecting and I'm lazy so I never do it on anything. I am convinced that the few palms I tried to protect years ago would have recovered if I had left them alone. I know the true condition of all our palms is not known yet but as I look out today (now that we're out of the deep freeze) my windmills have unfolded and look terrific. I know it could be temporary but I'm glad I didn't try any of my failed methods.
