Since mine doesn't totally defoliate in that good microclimate it can spend more energy on getting a lot bigger every year . The 2 I have in the backyard sometimes get totally defoliated and have to spend all their energy replacing their fronds during some growing seasons , while the one the front just keeps getting bigger .
