I don't get off the main roads much, so I'm not peering into every little neighborhood, but Butia, as a common plant, growing in the open unprotected on the East Coast? Virginia Beach & Cape Charles.
Can you find the odd one in Ocean City or the Delaware beaches? Sure. You can also find the odd Palmetto in these places. But these don't tend to be 20 or 30 year plants.
Virginia Beach is where everything opens up, plantwise.
